Call for Auditions

The Idaho Arts Charter School Foundation is pleased to announce our
Call for Auditions for the second annual Idaho's Rising Star Vocal Competition.
Auditions are open till January 15, 2009.

The Semi-Finalists in each division will receive a congratulatory phone call followed by written notification and the results will also be announced on our Website on February 1, 2009.

Prospective contestants will need to submit a DVD/video recording of yourself singing A Cappella, along with a completed Participant Application with signed Consent and Release and a $50 non-refundable entry fee. All videotapes must meet the following requirements:

1. Format: We prefer DVD, but will accept VHS.
2. Tell us about yourself and tell us why you should become Idaho's Rising Star. Please limit the essay to 1 page, 12 pt Arial font, single spaced. Be sure to include all contact information.
3. Your tape must include an A Cappella performance of one song. We are looking for family friendly genres, looks, and sounds. Keep in mind, this is your one shot to make it to the Semi-Finals so make sure it is clear audibly and visually. Any obscene or offensive lyrics, dress or movements will result in disqualification of the entry. Please keep it family friendly (no songs promoting sex, violence, drugs, gangs or gang activity).
4. Contestants must be 10 - 14* years old for the Lil' Rising Star*, 14-17* for Jr. Rising Star and 18* and over for the Idaho's Rising Star.
5. DO NOT SEND US AUDIO TAPES OR CD DEMOS! We want to SEE you perform! You will be judged for your performance and marketability as well as your vocal capabilities.
6. If possible, please DO NOT video yourself in front of a blank white wall or window. A dark wall or a distant background is better.
7. Make sure you check your DVD/VHS when you are finished for good sound and picture quality.
8. The DVD/VHS recording must be labeled with your name, address and phone number on the face of the DVD/VHS and on the spine of the VHS tape.
9. Please include a portrait head shot of yourself (you alone with a single color background or muted background).
10. Include the $50 entry fee payable to Idaho Arts Charter School Foundation.

All material that you send in (including video tapes, DVDs and photos) will be retained by Idaho's Rising Star and will become the property of Idaho's Rising Star. The materials will not be returned to you whether or not you are selected as a contestant. Any expenses you incur during the application process, including postage, shipping, and material preparation are your sole responsibility.

ONLY ONE ENTRY PER PERSON IS ALLOWED.

Applications will only be considered if they are complete. Complete applications will consist of the following:

• DVD or VHS recording labeled clearly with your name, address and phone on the face and spine of the recording.
• Include a portrait head shot of yourself.
• $50 entry fee in check or money order payable to Idaho Arts Charter School Foundation

All entries videotapes must be submitted with a completed Participant Application with signed Consent and Release. All applications MUST be written clearly or typed and MUST be accompanied by a video recording as specified. Unfortunately, we will not be able to verify that we have received your application package. If you like, you may send your package via an expedited courier or certified mail (such as Fed Ex or UPS*) that will provide you with a tracking number to verify receipt of your package. Idaho's Rising Star is not responsible for lost application packages.
